𝗜 𝗵𝗮𝘃𝗲 𝗡𝗘𝗩𝗘𝗥 𝗮𝘁𝘁𝗲𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗱 𝗮 ‘𝗻𝗲𝘁𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗸𝗶𝗻𝗴’ 𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗻𝘁. (well, not THAT kind of networking – I was in the networking IT space for many years)

🎙️ A decade back I was listening to an interview on the radio with a former GM of a large company talking about his new book. I found something he said to be particularly interesting, so I reached out on Twitter, sharing that I appreciated this comment. He replied, I bought the book, he started sharing my content, and the connection continued…

🥐 About 15 years ago I was enjoying breakfast in Positano, and I overheard a familiar industry conversation at the next table. This person happened to be a known name in my household. He was a respected Chairman/President of one of the companies in my industry. I called out his name to connect. And the relationship with him and his amazing wife began.

🗣️ 3 years ago I reached out to a new friend for a 1:1 conversation. She’s a senior leader in her business and lives in a part of the US that I didn’t know much about at the time. She had indicated in a few women’s group calls that she had been raised with a different political point of view than most of us. I loved her energy, so I wanted to listen and understand this better. She is now one of my great friends, supporters, collaborators, and allies. I just love this woman, and we have learned that we share much more in common than not!

🏀 I was at a charity basketball game as a teenager and paid a little kid $5 so that I could sit next to my favorite NFL player. I showed him that I carried his player card in my wallet. I’ll leave out the details, but he has been a close friend for 40 years…

🎂 I was getting ready to do an EBC (executive briefing) for a group in from Southern Brazil on my birthday – maybe 5 years ago. To prepare, I learned a bit about the region, the companies represented, taught myself how to open in Portuguese, and, knowing how lively a group this might be, I asked the group to sing me Happy Birthday in Portuguese, Southern-Brazilian style (true story)! I am still connected to some amazing people from this group!

Let me know your interest in an experiential workshop to Master the Art of Networking!
