I looked back over my career - not for the roles or titles, but for the moments.
The ones that stuck with me.
The ones I can almost feel again when I close my eyes.
The ones where I felt fully ๐ญ๐ช๐ต ๐ถ๐ฑ - creative, energized, and alive.
And I asked:
What I found wasnโt about a job or company - though some roles held more of those moments than others.
It was about the themes that had been fueling me all along โ regardless of the scenario, role, or industry - sometimes buried under deadlines, deliverables, and โshould-dosโ - but always there.
Many of us jump from one job to the next looking for a better title, more money, or a less toxic environment.
But fulfillment doesnโt live in a job description. It lives in the throughlines - the patterns that show up again and again when youโre at your best.
If youโre exploring whatโs next, these themes might be your best clues - pointing to the kind of work that fuels you and the environments where you stand out.
Think back on 7-10 moments or experiences (from any chapter of life โ this really can be arbitrary so just choose the first moments that come to mind) when you felt most alive, energized, or deeply connected to your work or your impact.
Write them down. What was happening when you felt most alive?
Then ask yourself:
What do those moments have in common?
What 5 themes are consistent across the experiences that lit you up?
How are those themes showing up in your current work - and where are they missing?
You might be surprised how much clarity a little reflection can bring.
Fulfillment doesnโt always require a big pivot.
But it does require the courage to pause and notice whatโs been true for you all along.
Iโd love to hear some of your โlit-upโ moments! Whatโs an experience you keep coming back to - and what does it reveal about what really fuels you?
