I published Lessons in Life and Leadership in 2021 right after finishing cancer treatment. I had decided to move on from my career in global technology after 26+ years, to begin a business that would empower both men and women to live their best life.
On September 29, 2021, I was hiking on a trail by my home, and I had an idea to support this new business:
I know a LOT of outstanding women leaders around the work that deserve to be heard! Why not put a book together representing the lessons they have learned over time and grit? Lessons they would share with someone they were mentoring.
So, I sent a note to 75 women with a specific request and timeline.
I taught myself how to use Canva on a very rainy weekend in late October and laid out the book myself.
On November 2nd, the book was on Amazon for sale.
The lessons in the book are strong.
The lesson underscored while this book went from idea to Amazon in 33 days: anything is possible when we set our mind to it!
The Question Posed:
What are the top 3, most valuable lessons in life and leadership, that you have learned over time; ones that you would want to share with someone you are mentoring?
61 women leaders in 22 different industries including Technology, Finance, Professional Services, Beauty, Retail, Entertainment, Healthcare and Wellness, Legal, and more; and from across 3 continents, share their most valued lessons in leadership earned over decades of experience.
This is an essential manual for women of all ages, and anyone interested in reaching new heights in their career and all aspects of life, with insight from a diverse group of multi-dimensional thought leaders, each moving the bar a little bit farther forward every single day in life and leadership.
3 ideas for how
to use the book:
Read the whole book cover-to-cover and notice the themes that come through from women who lead.
Reflect on one lesson each day and consider how you can incorporate its value into your own career and other areas of your life.
Bring it to your team: have a team member choose a lesson from the book, and ask them to lead a team-building session about that lesson.
