A No-Show Speaks Louder Than Words

We’re all juggling a lot - and sometimes things fall. But there's one pattern I see that chips away at trust faster than anything.
Over the last few months, I’ve been thinking a lot about commitment and accountability. It comes in so many shapes and shows up in so many ways. So, I decided to tackle just one way in which we’ve all seen its face. I’d love to hear from any of you as to how you may have experienced this...
I've always valued showing up on time. When I say I'll be somewhere - I'll be there. Sure, real unavoidable things happen from time to time, but generally, a commitment is a commitment.
After all, my commitment represents my word.
I won't kid you – now as an entrepreneur and coach, there's a behavior I see more often than I'd really love: people skipping scheduled meetings without taking the time to communicate.
And here's what your no-show – especially without communication - really communicates:
Your time matters more than theirs.
Their preparation and effort don't deserve respect.
You're comfortable eroding trust, one missed commitment at a time.
These behaviors, often done without thinking, tend to spill into other leadership areas.
They show up as missed deadlines, broken promises, and shaky team morale - ultimately hurting your results and credibility.
With each missed commitment, it becomes easier to miss more commitments in favor of convenience.
Leadership is built on trust, respect, and reliability.
How you handle small commitments reflects how you handle everything.
WHAT TO DO:
Next time you're tempted to leave someone hanging - pause. It just takes a few seconds. Send a quick note. Respect their time, their effort, and your own integrity.
Trust is hard-earned and quickly lost.
So - choose intentionally. And choose wisely.
